June Quilt Batts
meeting: Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the First Church of Christ, 772 N.
2ndSt., Cherokee, IA 51012 (behind Skyline Motel) at 7 p.m. Enter the
door on the west side of the church. Dessert and drinks will be
served following the meeting. Guests welcome for a $5 fee.

Evonne Cook (Clothesline Quilt Company) from Estherville, Iowa will be
presenting a program about the American Civil War Battles. She has
designed quilts which represent major battles of the American Civil
War from 1861 through 1985. She will describe the battles and show us
her 12 quilt patterns. It will be a fun way to learn about our
country’s history and the hardships of war. We will discover the
history of the Generals of the Civil War and the 8 quilts she created
(including interesting information on their lives, family and
careers).

Clothesline Quilts Pattern Company features traditional quilt and
craft patterns for the home and family by Evonne Cook. Evonne is a
former community college employee who has always enjoyed sewing &
tailoring. She learned to sew in 7th grade Home Ec class. But since
quilting caught her attention, she spends her time in the quilting and
designing mode.
Married for 40 years, husband John and her enjoy their 11 wonderful
grandchildren and still farm the family farm of row crops, corn &
soybeans, in northwest Iowa.
Her pattern company is based in their rural farm home, and they love
it that way; "It’s really more fun than work." She now enjoys
designing reproduction fabric collections with Washington Street
Studios, a division of P & B Fabrics, for the past four years.
